Krakow Biezenow Station - Poland’s E30/C-E30 Rail Track Renovation Project, Poland
Phase two refurbishes 15 km of the E30/C-E30 rail track between Kraków and Rzeszów, completing the upgrade of 138.7 km of track. This enhances connections between major southern Polish cities and extends to Berlin, Dresden, and beyond, boosting pan-European trade and travel.
Objective: To strengthen Poland's role in the Trans-European Transport Network by speeding up rail transit and making it more appealing for passengers and freight movement.
KEY activities
• Upgrading 15 km of rail track to increase train speeds to 160 km/h for passengers and 120 km/h for freight.
• Modernizing track systems, subgrade, traffic control, and power supplies.
• Constructing new platforms, eliminating most level crossings, and refurbishing engineering structures.
For this train station, a new platform was build – directly on the street. The former platform was modernized. Both platforms are higher and larger now. They have been equipped with a large canopy, wich will provide a better shield for waiting passengers against snow, wind and rain. There is a new sound and lighting system, and there are dynamic information boards which show accurate ‘live’ timetables. This is seen as a huge improvement.
The wooden benches and lean ‘installations’ give passengers the opportunity to wait extra comfortable.
